Marimekko bed linen is made from high-quality 100% cotton and has been given the Öko-Tex Standard 100 environmental certificate, ensuring that no noxious chemicals were used during its manufacturing.
The black Unikko fabric design, created by Maija Isola in 1964, has large-scale, bold black poppies with brown centers. Maija Isola created her Unikko design in protest against the announcement that no floral fabrics are designed at Marimekko. Much to their chagrin, Isola's Unikko is Marimekko's most recognizable and popular design today.
