The elegant image of Pale Male is well-known to New Yorkers. The light colored hawk made a name for himself when he set up his home on one of the most exclusive buildings on Fifth Avenue almost two decades ago. He is ardently watched by his fans as he hunts and flies around Central Park.
Now you can bring this magnificent bird into your home. Oiva Toikka has fashioned a nearly life-size version of the iconic bird with cream and tan marbling. His tail is a flame of red and orange, cleverly offsetting the otherwise subtle coloring. And his beak is a metallic grey. Toikka has made an animated sculpture, true to the real life Pale Male.
Each bird bears the hand-etched signature of Oiva Toikka and his studio in Nuutajarvi, Finland.
For every Pale Male purchased in 2007 iittala, Inc. will make a donation to the New York City Audubon Society. Each Pale Male has a special hang tag acknowledging the co-operation between iittala, Inc and New York City Audubon.
